Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Stylist in Training is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and best in class salon services. This position will receive training and guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams, learning from the best in the industry on proper grooming techniques. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness, recommending solutions for pet parents, and ensuring pet safety standards.

Pet Stylist in Training role is obtained once the associate has successfully completed the PetSmart Grooming Academy.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform bath, brush, grooming services, and standalone services like nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services under supervision.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting or exceeding company expectations.
• Recommend health and wellness solutions to Pet Parents based on pet needs.
• Ensure positive pet parent experience and outcomes, including greeting, answering questions, and assisting with reservations.
• Maintain salon cleanliness and sanitation, perform maintenance, and adhere to safety standards.
• Participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Completed PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification.
• Prior grooming experience preferred; may require technical exam.
• Proficient in computer applications.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong organizational, communication, and safety skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb, handle tools, and reach frequently; lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Exposure to moving parts, wet environment, pet hair, and noise; handling live animals.
