The Groomer is a commission-based position within the Resort and reports directly to the General Manager. A successful candidate will embrace this culture, be a team player, self-motivated, take direction well, communicate effectively, and pay close attention to detail. Experience grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats is essential. Primary responsibilities include ensuring all pets receive a professional-quality groom that meets or exceeds client requests without compromising their physical and emotional health.

A Day In The Life

This role is vital to our pets and their owners. You will help keep pets healthy and happy by maintaining their grooming needs, working with reservations, walk-ins, and boarding guests. Tasks include performing full grooms, baths, touch-ups, and handling emergency situations like accidents. You will interact with both pets and their owners, document observations, and sometimes identify health issues early. Expect to get hands-on with pet care, including cleaning up after pets, and providing lots of affection and kisses!

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, gentle, and safe grooming experiences for pets.
  • Complete grooming or bathing as per client specifications on time.
  • Coordinate grooming appointments, manage client records, and discuss grooming instructions and health concerns with clients.
  • Respond promptly to calls and emails, reschedule appointments as needed, and resolve customer service issues.
  • Maintain grooming tools and equipment, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Notify management of supplies needed and keep the workspace clean and disinfected.
  • Monitor pets' health during grooming, report concerns, and ensure they are comfortable and hydrated.
  • Follow safety procedures, especially with aggressive or escape-prone animals.
  • Adhere to pricing policies and communicate any additional costs beforehand.
  • Use proper pet identification procedures and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Assist with laundry and collaborate with other departments as required.

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build long-term client relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Physical ability to handle dogs of all sizes, lift up to 60 lbs, and work in various environments.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and flexibility to work holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently, following directions effectively.

Qualifications For This Position

  • Professional grooming certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Two to four years of professional grooming experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of breed standards and grooming techniques.
