The Groomer is a commission-based position within the Resort and reports directly to the General Manager. A successful candidate will embrace this culture, be a team player, self-motivated, receptive to direction, possess excellent communication skills, and have great attention to detail. Experience in grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats is essential. The primary responsibility is to ensure all pets receive a professional-quality groom that meets or exceeds client requests without compromising their physical or emotional health.

A Day In The Life

This role is vital to our pets and their owners. You will help keep pets healthy through grooming, work on reservations, walk-ins, and boarding guests, perform full grooms, baths, touch-ups, and handle emergencies like accidents. You will communicate with pet owners, document observations, and sometimes identify health issues early. Expect to get some fur on you, clean up after pets, and receive lots of kisses!

Responsibilities
  • Provide a positive grooming experience emphasizing compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort.
  • Complete grooms or baths according to client specifications and on schedule.
  • Coordinate scheduling with Resort Hosts, set up new clients, and discuss vaccination protocols.
  • Meet clients to discuss grooming instructions, provide reports, and suggest additional services.
  • Respond promptly to calls and emails, reschedule appointments as needed, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain grooming tools and check equipment regularly for safety.
  • Notify management when supplies are needed.
  • Keep the workspace clean and sanitized, including sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, and cleaning grooming areas.
  • Monitor pet health during grooming and report concerns.
  • Ensure pets have water and bathroom breaks during long grooming sessions.
  • Follow safety procedures, especially with aggressive or escape-prone animals.
  • Adhere to pricing guidelines and obtain approval for additional charges.
  • Use proper pet identification procedures.
  • Assist with laundry and coordinate with other departments as needed.

  • Ability to work in various physical conditions and environments, including temperature extremes and noisy settings.
  • Physical ability to handle dogs of all sizes and lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling, including holidays and weekends.
  • Team player with attention to detail and ability to work independently following directions.
  • Comfortable working in close contact with bodily fluids and getting dirty.
Qualifications For This Position

Education: Professional grooming certifications are preferred but not required.

  • Two to four years of professional grooming experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of breed standards and cuts.
  • Proficiency in scissoring techniques.
