Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Stylist (Dog Groomer) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and best-in-class salon services while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility for cleanliness, pet health, and safety standards.

Principal Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services according to PetSmart standards.
• Recommending health and wellness solutions based on pet needs.
• Ensuring a positive pet parent experience both in person and over the phone.
• Greeting pet parents, answering questions, and assisting with reservations.
• Maintaining client records, conducting appointment reminders, and rebooking.
• Promoting salon sales and achieving sales targets and metrics.
• Selling merchandise and services.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the grooming area.
• Responding to sick or injured pets and transporting them to the vet as needed.
• Assisting in other departments as required.
• Participating in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Following all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Prior grooming experience or 6 months in Stylist in Training with successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy or passing the technical evaluation.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Standing, walking, climbing, and using hands frequently; ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more than 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, pet hair, and moderate noise levels; handling live animals is common.
