Job Overview
Apply at Keck Medicine of USC Hospital in Newport Beach, California. As part of the Imaging Services Team, the PET/CT Technologist supports radiologists in high-quality radionuclide imaging, CT, and lab procedures to ensure excellent patient care. Performs related duties as needed.
Essential Duties
- Organize and manage patient procedures and activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of physics, scanning techniques, and computer science related to nuclear imaging and CT.
- Operate PET, CT equipment, and related software proficiently.
- Handle radioactive isotopes safely, including ordering, handling, preparation, administration, and documentation.
- Calculate and analyze test results accurately.
- Perform equipment inspections, quality checks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs.
- Plan procedures considering patient age and condition.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, technique, and identification according to protocols.
- Verify patient identity and review medical orders and instructions.
- Recognize emergencies and respond appropriately.
- Maintain sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
- Document patient information and complete paperwork, including billing.
- Prepare reports and manage isotope documentation in compliance with safety regulations.
- Prepare examinations for radiologist review.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and stocked.
- Perform additional duties such as scheduling, quality control, and transport as needed.
- Assist with inventory and supply management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiography program with necessary licenses/certifications.
- Effective communication skills with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience & Certifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and in CT.
Licenses/Certifications Required
- PET/CT Technologist certification.
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CA DPH, NMTCB, or ARRT) or Radiologic Technologist (CA, ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire if applicable.
Additional Information
The hourly rate ranges from $53.00 to $87.45. USC considers various factors in employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
