Job summary

Austin Radiological Association (ARA Diagnostic Imaging) in the Greater Austin area is seeking a Nuclear Medicine professional to support PET/CT imaging and quality control across outpatient centers. The role emphasizes credentialing compliance, patient preparation, contrast administration, and accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited Nuclear Medicine program background, ARRT/NMTCB credentials, CPR, MRT, and relevant PET/CT experience, with opportunities for

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • ARRT (N) or NMTCB (CNMT), CPR, and MRT required.
  • NMTCB (PET) and ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) preferred.
  • CPR and MRT are required.
  • NMTCB (PET) is required after twelve (12) months, and ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) is required six months after the PET registry.
  • Three to Five years of experience performing PET/CT exams is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and maintains daily check-ups and quality control on CT scanners as required by credentialing organizations.
  • Reviews requisitions to determine proper study; interviews patients for medical history; prepares patients for exams; administers oral and IV contrast; utilizes knowledge of Creatinine meter; explains benefits and risks of contrast to patient; positions patient appropriately; selects scan parameters and exposure factors; monitors patient while scanning; reviews images for quality and abnormalities; adheres to OSHA guidelines; adheres to guidelines regarding radiation protection and recordkeeping; completes documentation and file notations; performs QC and patient tests according to protocol; performs weekly Emergency Crash Cart QC; works cooperatively with radiologist.
  • Performs IV insertion as needed following proper guidelines asestablishedby Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Records the patient’s history and any pertinent informationregardingtheir examination.
  • Verifies that all images, tech notes andrequireddocuments have successfully transmitted to PACS ina timelyandaccuratemanner.

POSITION SUMMARY:

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
