Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a PET/CT technologist to perform PET/CT imaging under physician supervision, including patient positioning to demonstrate accurate anatomy and pathology.

The role includes preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, IV/oral contrast, operation of imaging equipment, patient education, and meticulous documentation while complying with QA/QC and radiation safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform PET/CT imaging under physician supervision.
• Position patient for accurate anatomy/pathology visualization.
• Prepare, dose manage and administer radiopharmaceuticals and IV/oral CT contrast.
• Operate radiation-producing equipment and electronic radiology systems.
• Prepare patient room/equipment and educate patient and family.
• Complete departmental documentation and adhere to QA/QC standards.
• Comply with radioactive activity monitoring and documentation.

Competent in preparation, dose management and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, radioisotopes, IV and oral CT contrast, operation of radiation producing equipment, operation of the electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient room/equipment, provides patient and family education and maintains adequate supply inventory. Explains examination procedure and discharge instructions to patient and completes departmental documentation. Comply with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Performs to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
