Job summary

New York Oncology Hematology seeks a Nuclear Medicine professional to perform diagnostic PET/CT imaging and related therapy procedures. The role includes patient positioning, protocol setup, and image archiving, with responsibility for data accuracy and daily quality control.

You will assist in scheduling, front-office coordination, and education materials development, while upholding safety standards and compliance with the organization’s policies.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology from an AMA-accredited program.
• PET/CT certification required; ARRT(N) or NMTCB(CT) preferred.
• CNMT and/or ARRT certification and state licensure where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic PET/CT imaging and Therapy procedures, including injection, contrast administration, protocol setup, patient positioning, and image capture.
• Assists in procedure scheduling and front office tasks to maintain workflow.
• Ensures accuracy of patient demographics, reports, and files, and supports data collection for follow-up and research.
• Maintains safety and quality through daily QC of scanner performance and adherence to standards.
• Reports malfunctions and coordinates service with vendors or facilities.
• Manages patient data, prints and archives films, and handles data transfers and loaned material.

Job description

SCOPE:

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic PET/CT imaging, therapy procedures, and related functions. Collaborates with Radiation Service Director and Supervisor on technical issues, equipment performance and QA. Supports and adheres to the New York Oncology Hematology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs diagnostic PET/CT imaging or Therapy procedures to include: injection of radio- pharmaceutical , the administration of oral contrast, protocol setup, patient positioning, reconstruction and filming of images, network image transfers, and archiving of image data.
• Assists in procedure scheduling and related front office functions to ensure smooth workflow.
• Ensures accuracy of patient demographic information, report distribution and patient files.
• Assists with the collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and development of teaching and educational information.
• Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor scanner performance.
• Reports all malfunctions and/or need for service to the proper company or facility.
• Responsible for patient data and films including: printing, archiving, retrieval, network data transfers, tracking and logging of loaned films and requested outside films.
• Ordering of necessary office, medical, printing and archiving media.
• Assists with the collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and development of research, teaching and educational information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates or Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or from an AMA accredited program or Associates or Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology from an AMA accredited program and PET/CT certification. Minimum three to five years experience in nuclear medicine and/or previous PET experience preferred. General knowledge of patient scheduling and billing systems. CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and/or ARRT (N) certification and state licensure where applicable. Certification either in ARRT ( R) or (CT) or NMTCB (CT) is also preferred.
