Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Regional Nuclear Technologist responsible for providing scanning coverage and training in PET/CT procedures across various locations. The ideal candidate will produce high-quality diagnostic images and ensure patient safety, with strong communication skills and the capacity for significant travel.

Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or equivalent, NMTCB or ARRT credentialing, and a minimum of three years of experience. Compensation ranges from $67.91 to $77.98 per hour depending on experience and skills.

Job description

Position Summary

Regional resource responsible for providing scanning coverage and supporting Team Members in the field with PET/CT training and troubleshooting in a mobile imaging healthcare environment. The role includes clinical competencies evaluation and coverage across various locations and states.

Responsibilities
  • Produce high‑quality diagnostic images and maintain patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications, aseptic injection techniques, and compliance with radiation safety regulations.
  • Document and adhere to proper technique when handling radioactive materials and patients.
  • Partner with local ADDs to communicate with physician groups, Radiology/Clinic Directors, and radiologists regarding PET/CT software, customer portal, scanning protocols, and quality issues.
  • Troubleshoot scanner, mobile coach, and peripheral equipment such as monitors, PACS, and coils.
  • Assist Sales team with start‑ups and new business as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Credentialed as NMTCB or ARRT (N) State license, as required.
  • CPR certification and a valid state driver’s license.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Nuclear Technologist in high‑pressure, high‑visibility environments with regular patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Previous experience managing business relationships with physicians and customers.
  • Strong communication skills at all organizational levels and ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations and travel up to 90% of the time.
  • Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with multiple OEMs and vendors such as GE, Siemens, Philips, etc.
Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to weather conditions while transporting patients on a mobile unit.
  • Will be exposed to a strong magnetic field and possible environmental hazards.
  • Approximately 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk; repetitive hand, arm, and leg movement; ability to communicate with patients.
  • Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel, or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift non‑ambulatory patients for transfer or exam.
Compensation

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in California is $67.91 - $77.98. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
