Job summary

Petco is hiring an Assistant Manager to help run a high-performing Pet Care Center, lead partners, care for pets, and deliver exceptional customer experiences on the sales floor.

You’ll support the General Manager, step in during their absence, and coach team members to achieve sales targets while upholding Petco’s standards for animal welfare and store presentation. This full-time role requires flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience with supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Passion for animals and knowledge of pet care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uphold Petco’s animal care standards and ensure safety of all animals.
• Lead and engage store partners to deliver outstanding service and loyalty.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of partners.
• Coach, provide feedback, and recognize performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized store reflecting Petco’s brand and values.
• Drive sales and operational goals from the floor.
• Monitor performance metrics and share insights with the General Manager.
• Assist with inventory, merchandising, and events.
• Step into leadership in the General Manager’s absence.
• Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
