Job summary

RAYUS Radiology in New Jersey is seeking a part-time PET/CT Technologist to support mobile units near Somerville. The role requires NMTCB or ARRT certification and radiography training, with CPR and state license as applicable. You will perform PET/CT procedures, screen and prepare patients, and maintain safety and quality control in a fast-paced environment.

This temporary/PRN position (<20 hours/week) offers exposure to advanced imaging on mobile platforms and requires independent work with minimal supervision, while upholding regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Registered NMTCB or ARRT in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiography.
  • Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience to competently perform radiographic procedures independently.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and advanced PET/CT procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Screens patients for precautions or contraindications.
  • Explains and prepares patients for PET/CT procedures and positions them.
  • Maintains safety and accuracy in RIS records and quality control.
  • Maintains PET/CT equipment and performs daily/weekly QC per guidelines.

Position

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a part time PET/CT Technologist to join our team. We are challenging the status quo by shining the light on radiology and making it a critical first step in diagnosis and proper treatment.

Temporary/PRN position (<20/week) working on our mobile units, located in near Somerville, NJ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Imaging
  • Performs routine and advanced Positron emission tomography–computed tomography (PET/CT) procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats
  • Screens patient before the procedure for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination
  • Explains and prepares patients for Positron emission tomography–computed tomography (PET/CT) procedures, positioning patients appropriately and providing support throughout the procedure
  • Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
  • Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers
  • Assesses, prepares, records and administers radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State regulations and departmental policies
  • Administers fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) via intravenous methods to patients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety‑related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services
  • Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer
  • Maintains accurate patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
Imaging Support
  • Performs general maintenance on PET/CT scanner and/or mobile scanner and truck
  • Performs and records daily quality control procedures on specified equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation
  • Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment to ensure compliance with ACR and AOA guidelines
  • Troubleshoots when possible and reports problems to supervisor
  • Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State Regulations
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing
  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiography
  • Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Training and experience sufficient to competently perform radiographic procedures independently
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance
Preferred Qualifications
  • ARRT certification in CT
  • NMTCB PET Specialty certification
