Job summary

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a part-time PET/CT Technologist to join our mobile unit team near Somerville, NJ. You will perform PET and CT procedures according to established standards to provide high-quality patient care and will remain proactive in expanding knowledge of the field as procedures evolve.

This Temporary/PRN role (<20/week) on our mobile units requires ARRT/NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine, radiography training, and valid CPR certification. You will contribute to a safe, efficient imaging environment and collaborate with radiology staff.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Licensed technologist in the appropriate state (if applicable).
• NMTCB or ARRT registration in Nuclear Medicine required.

Responsibilities

• Perform PET/CT procedures according to established standards.
• Screen and prepare patients for PET/CT imaging.
• Explain procedures and position patients for optimal scans.
• Maintain patient records and ensure safety protocols.

This is a Temporary/PRN position (<20/week) working on our mobile units, located in near Somerville, NJ.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

(75%) Patient Imaging

• Performs routine and advanced Positron emission tomography--computed tomography (PET/CT) procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats
• Screens patient before the procedure for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination
• Explains and prepares patients for Positron emission tomography--computed tomography (PET/CT) procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned and providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
• Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
• Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers
• Assesses, prepares, records and administers radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear
• Regulatory Commission and/or State regulations and departmental policies
• Administers fluorodioxyglucose (FDG) via intravenous methods to patients
• Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services
• Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer
• Maintains accurate patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
• Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements

(20%) Imaging Support

• Performs general maintenance on PET/CT scanner and/or mobile scanner and truck
• Performs and records daily quality control procedures on specified equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation
• Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on
• PET/CT equipment to ensure compliance with ACR and AOA guidelines
• Troubleshoots when possible, and reports problems to supervisor
• Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State Regulations

Requirements

Required:

• NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing
• Graduate of an accredited school of radiography
• Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Training and experience sufficient to competently perform radiographic procedures independently
• Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance

Preferred

• ARRT certification in CT
• NMTCB PET Specialty certification
