Job Description And Duties
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Under the direct Supervisor of Building Trades, CF and the lead direction of the Lead Groundskeeper I, CF, the Pest Control Technician, CF, at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) will supervise and work one incarcerated individual in the control or eradication of any or all of the following: Roaches, ants, snails, silverfish, spiders, mosquitoes, or other insects miscellaneous insects, birds, rats, mice, rabbits or other vertebra as needed, weeds and any other growing plants as may be required. Responsible to keep pest control permits and licenses current at all times. Responsible for ongoing training and maintaining ongoing documentation of all training for self and crew. Required to review and observe all applicable laws and regulations. Participates in and utilizes all trainings and Personal Protective Equipment required for the execution of their duties and employment at High Desert State Prison. Monitors assignments as presented in the Plant Operations digitized work order platform, reports/enters usage of assigned shift time and work task completion data in required timelines.

Working Conditions
High Desert State Prison is located approximately eight miles east of the town of Susanville, or about a 1 hour 30-minute drive northwest of Reno, Nevada.

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) Field Rep, Branch 2, License (General Pest) License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
