STATE REQUIRED REGISTRATION

The State of Georgia requires all Pest Control employees to obtain 70 hours of on‑job training, attend 10 hours of classroom instruction, and pass a written examination to become a registered employee.

DRIVING RECORD REQUIREMENTS

The company’s commercial vehicle insurance carrier must approve all applicants who drive a company vehicle. You must have a valid driver’s license, 5 years of driving experience, be at least 21 years old, and maintain a good motor vehicle record (MVR). A good 36‑month MVR must not contain any of the following:

  • Reckless, negligent or careless driving
  • Any violation involving alcohol or drugs (including refusal to submit to chemical testing)
  • Fleeing or eluding an officer
  • Failure to stop and identify after an accident
  • Negligent homicide, vehicular manslaughter or assault with a motor vehicle, drag racing or racing on roadways
  • Theft of a motor vehicle or any other felony resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle
  • Exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 mph
  • Driving with a suspended/revoked license or registration

The following violations are subject to the insurance carrier’s approval:

  • More than one speeding violation
  • An at‑fault accident
HOURS

Monday through Thursday, the workday starts at 7:30 A.M. and ends at 6:30 P.M. Routes are scheduled from the 1st Monday through the 4th Thursday of each month. No regular service is scheduled for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Routes are serviced 16 days per month; the remaining days are not scheduled workdays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should be in good health, as the job requires walking, kneeling in kitchens, stooping to service pantry cabinets, and other residential service tasks. The job does not require crawling under houses. Candidates must be able to check the oil and change a flat tire on the service vehicle.

APPEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must maintain a neat, professional appearance. Hair must be worn to prevent it from becoming caught in cabinet doors or equipment. Excessive jewelry and strong colognes are prohibited. A business‑appropriate haircut and clean‑shaven face are required. OSHA regulations require respirators to fit properly and not be obstructed by facial hair. Facial piercings may be restricted if they interfere with respirator fit.

AREA OF OPERATION

Some days are worked in Columbus; other days may be as far away as 50 miles from Columbus.

COMPANY VEHICLE

The company furnishes a company vehicle for business use to run your route. The vehicle may be taken home each night after you pass the state registration exam. The vehicle is NOT for personal use.

COMPENSATION

An hourly wage will be discussed during the interview. In addition, a commission is paid on all work performed and any new accounts sold. The more work is performed, the greater the earnings.

Operating a pest control service route requires strict adherence to company policies, safety standards, and scheduling requirements. Candidates must meet all of the following qualifications to perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with customers, coworkers, and the public.
  • Ability to read maps, follow written and verbal directions, and navigate assigned service areas accurately.
  • Route assignments require remaining within the designated service area until the scheduled end of the workday, no earlier than 6:00 p.m., unless prior authorization is granted by management. Company vehicle tracking systems verify route compliance. Unauthorized early departure may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
  • Must possess and maintain a personal cell phone with reliable reception throughout the assigned service area for work‑related communication.
  • Must be able to report to work reliably and consistently as scheduled. Personal responsibilities must be managed so as not to interfere with attendance or job performance.
