Job summary

Jobtailor in Newark, NJ is seeking a diligent Pest Control Technician to join our residential service team.

You will inspect properties, identify pests, determine infestation types, apply approved products, and educate customers on prevention while building lasting relationships. A valid driver’s license is required, with willingness to work Mon-Fri and weekends as needed, and PPE must be worn.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
Valid driver's license (state of residence).
Licenses/certificates as required by regulations.
Willingness to learn all areas of pest control.
Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in tight, confined spaces and around hazards.

Responsibilities

Perform industry-leading pest management services for residential customers.
Inspect client properties for pest infestations, damage, and entry points.
Determine pest infestation types.
Apply approved pest control products, including chemicals, baits, and traps.
Educate customers on pest prevention and maintaining pest-free environments.
Advise customers on reducing future infestation risks.
Build customer relationships and schedule/confirm appointments.
Assist with sales to current customers and expand products to new customers.
Maintain, stock, and ensure proper working condition of pest control equipment.
Follow local, state, and federal pest control product and safety regulations.
Drive and safely operate a company-provided service vehicle.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid driver’s license from state of residence
Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and/or local regulations
Clean-shaven face for respirator safety
Available Monday-Friday and weekends as needed
Willingness to learn all areas of pest control
Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
Basic math skills sufficient to follow product-label mixing instructions
Customer-facing experience preferred
Ability to work in tight, confined spaces
Ability to work around animals, insects, termites, mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals
Ability to work inside and outside in the local climate
Ability to perform regular sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, including on stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
Ability to wear OSHA-compliant personal protective equipment, including a respirator
