Personnel Security Specialist I

The Personnel Security Specialist I reviews and analyzes investigative reports to identify and evaluate derogatory and mitigating information, making recommendations regarding an individual's eligibility for a Department of Energy (DOE) access authorization. This role requires developing a comprehensive understanding of personnel security theories, techniques, and practices, and applying them to evaluate personnel security cases effectively.

Responsibilities

1. Attend and complete professional development training related to Personnel Security.
2. Ensure investigative coverage is complete; analyze reports, prepare detailed case histories, evaluations, and make determinations with recommendations for further action.
3. Produce professionally written, technically accurate, and grammatically correct reports, including investigations, reinvestigations, incident reports, and sensitive information disclosures.
4. Accurately enter data into all required personnel security databases.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 1-3 years of experience analyzing data in a personnel security context.
• Strong technical writing skills, producing clear, concise, and error-free reports.
• Ability to analyze data, resolve discrepancies, and synthesize key findings.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
