Description

As a Personal Trainer at the Marblehead YMCA, you will help deliver high-quality member and program participant experiences through hands-on instruction in a state-of-the-art facility while customizing workouts to meet individual clients' needs. Your day-to-day responsibilities include engaging members on the fitness floor through exercise demonstrations and machine overviews, suggesting workouts, offering complimentary sessions, and responding quickly to members' needs. You will meet regularly with clients, recommend adaptations, and modifications to ensure suitable progression based on abilities. Additionally, you'll assist members as needed, act as a greeter, respond to inquiries, and maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality.

To succeed in this role, you must have proven personal or exercise training experience and the ability to work with diverse populations with varying abilities. You should possess extensive knowledge of health and fitness principles, exercise prescription, and strength training machines. Valuing assessment and evaluation of individual health and the development of personalized training plans are essential.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in physical education or a related field preferred.
  • Certification from a recognized agency such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, or NSPA preferred.
  • Flexible schedules, including afternoons from 3 pm to 6 pm and early mornings from 5 am to 9 am.
Physical Demands
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform all physical aspects, including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift 45-pound weight plates.
  • Ability to work outside when weather permits.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to listen, hear, and discern members' needs and interests.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate exercise equipment.
