Job summary

IronBody Studios in Madison Heights, MI is seeking part-time personal trainers and group fitness instructors to provide one-on-one and small-group sessions, lead classes, and create tailored programs for a diverse client base.

The role is an independent contractor with flexible scheduling, morning/evening/weekend availability, and opportunities to grow a personal training clientele within the studio. CPR/AED and First Aid required, NASM/ACE/ISSA/NSCA certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading group fitness classes and one-on-one sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform client assessments, create and progress training programs, and document client notes.
  • Maintain clean, organized training space and sanitize equipment after sessions.

Job description

IronBody Studios is an inclusive, community-focused fitness studio located in Madison Heights, Michigan. We offer open gym access, personal training, small-group training, group fitness classes, workshops, and special events in a welcoming environment designed for people of different fitness levels, backgrounds, body types, and abilities.

Our approach combines strength, movement, education, and community. The studio is equipped for both individual and group training and is supported by a team of trainers, instructors, and front desk staff who work together to create a professional, supportive, and high-quality member experience.

Briefly describe your business’s services and facility.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one and small-group personal training sessions for IronBody Studios clients, delivering safe, effective, and individualized programming based on each client’s goals, experience level, abilities, and needs.

Lead group fitness classes and group training sessions as scheduled, providing clear instruction, exercise modifications, proper form coaching, and an engaging, inclusive class experience for participants of varying fitness levels.

Responsibilities include conducting client assessments, developing and progressing training programs, coaching proper exercise technique and form, maintaining client notes and programming, providing ongoing client support, and creating a positive, welcoming training experience.

Trainers are also expected to maintain a clean and organized training space, properly reset and sanitize equipment after sessions and classes, follow studio safety and emergency procedures, accurately check clients into scheduled sessions, and communicate professionally with clients and studio leadership.

Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors may also assist with workshops or special events and have opportunities to build their personal training clientele within the studio.

This is a part-time, independent contractor position with scheduling based on trainer availability, client demand, class schedule, and studio needs. Morning, evening, and/or weekend availability is preferred. Trainers should arrive at least 10 minutes before scheduled personal training or group training sessions and be dependable and punctual for all scheduled appointments and classes

Required Experience

Personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization such as NASM, ACE, ISSA, NSCA/CSCS, or an equivalent credential is required.

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required.

At least 1-2 years of personal training, coaching, or related fitness experience is required.

Candidates must also have group fitness instruction experience and be comfortable leading both one-on-one and group-based training environments.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of exercise technique, movement mechanics, program design, exercise modifications, and safe progression for clients of varying fitness levels.

We are looking for trainers who are confident working independently while also being collaborative members of a studio team. Strong communication, professionalism, reliability, customer service skills, and the ability to connect with a wide variety of clients are important.

Candidates must be comfortable coaching clients of different ages, backgrounds, body types, experience levels, and abilities while contributing to IronBody Studios' inclusive and welcoming environment.

Pay Range (per Hour or Salary)

15-75 per hour

Independent contractor position with flexible scheduling and the opportunity to grow a personal training client base within an established fitness studio.

Trainers receive free gym membership to IronBody Studios for their own workouts, opportunities to participate in studio events and workshops, exposure to an active member community, and opportunities to coach small-group training, group fitness classes, and other fitness offerings based on qualifications and studio needs.

IronBody provides the training environment and equipment needed to work with clients, along with front desk and studio support for scheduling and client experience.

New trainers complete an onboarding and training period before independently leading sessions. This generally includes approximately 2-4 weeks of training and shadowing, followed by an opportunity to demonstrate a training session before taking on a full schedule.
