Job summary

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Aquatic Rehab Center Personal Trainer is responsible for providing fitness center orientation, individualized and group personal training services, and fitness assessments to Aquatic Rehabilitation Center members.

Qualifications

• B.S. in physical education, exercise science, exercise physiology, or athletic training.
• Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM, ACE, NSCA).
• CPR Certification including Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
• One-year experience as a personal trainer (preferred).
• Experience working with individuals with special health needs.

Essential Functions

• Design, develop and implement appropriate aquatic and land exercise programs for fitness center clientele.
• Screen individuals for safety of participation, including monitoring blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, and heart rate.
• Administer health risk and fitness assessment tools and interpret results to develop safe, effective fitness programs.
• Provide orientation to fitness center equipment and assist members with equipment use.
• Participate in equipment management, set up, use, care, storage and maintenance.
• Participate in development of new programs, program schedules, and client education materials.
• Work independently and interdependently with others, adjusting and prioritizing schedule as needed.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

• Ability to handle fitness center weights and equipment, carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting.
• Application of previously acquired knowledge, independent problem identification and problem solving, abstract reasoning, and quick decision‑making.
• High level of communication skill, including expression of abstract/complex ideas, negotiation, active listening, and dialogue with multiple parties.
• Adaptability to schedule and environmental changes, including occasional noise and exposure to blood/body fluids.
