Responsibilities

The Personal Trainer provides a positive fitness experience tailored to members' specific goals through scientifically based, personalized fitness programs. Responsibilities include one-on-one and small group training, member engagement activities, and driving retention through motivation, accountability, and knowledge-based programs. Key duties involve delivering excellent member service, adhering to policies, maintaining client records, ensuring safety and equipment standards, completing administrative tasks, and meeting sales and revenue targets.

  • Providing a legendary member experience as a NYSC club ambassador.
  • Reviewing and adhering to all NYSC and brand policies and procedures.
  • Utilizing all fitness tools provided effectively.
  • Maintaining client programs and assessment forms properly.
  • Keeping certifications and continuing education current.
  • Being punctual for all shifts.
  • Creating SMART goal action plans for revenue, sales, and retention.
  • Addressing member issues promptly and escalating as needed.
  • Reporting maintenance or equipment issues.
  • Ensuring fitness equipment and floor meet safety standards.
  • Completing all administrative and scheduling tasks timely.
  • Proficiency in POS, membership, and other business systems.
  • Partnering with Fitness Leaders and Sales teams to meet new members and evaluate needs.
  • Partnering regularly with Fitness Leaders for coaching and feedback.
  • Successfully navigating IT platforms.
  • Exceeding revenue, session, and sales targets.
  • Engaging members and prospects through prospecting activities.
  • Maintaining ongoing client contact outside sessions.
  • Delivering safe, effective, and documented fitness programs.
  • Working with clients to tailor fitness programs for optimal results.
  • Meeting and maintaining monthly and quarterly production minimums.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • H.S. Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Previous personal training experience preferred but not required.
  • Active Child & Adult AED/CPR certification.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and perform physical activities required by the role.
  • Good technical skills in fitness programming and time management.
  • Active NYSC and approved Personal Trainer certification from a listed certifying body.
Approved Certifications

Certifications from ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AAPT, AAPTE, NPTI, WITS, NCSF, AFAA, ISCA, ISSA, NFPT, IFPA, NESTA, NCEP, Pro-PTA, The Cooper Institute, The Swedish Institute, NCCPT, or others with approval.

Scheduling Requirements
  • Open availability, including early, late, and weekend shifts.
  • Weekly activities include training sessions, prospecting, administrative duties, and fitness orientations.
Additional Details
  • Entry level, full-time position in the Wellness and Fitness Services industry.
