Job summary

City of New Brighton seeks a dedicated fitness professional to plan and deliver personal training within a community center setting. You will tailor programs, lead group classes, and conduct fitness orientations to support overall wellness.

You will also provide body composition profiles, engage with members to promote the program, and work with the Recreation Supervisor to review usage and fees. A focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion underpins daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field.
  • Certification in Health and Wellness programming and at least two years experience planning, presenting, and evaluating personal training services.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated strength, stamina, and agility for demonstrations and assisting others with fitness equipment.

Description

Provide New Brighton Community Center visitors with health and wellness education including but not limited to personal training services fitness orientations and body compositions.

Essential Functions
  • Plans and provides personal training services as one component of a total fitness program.
  • Each personal training program is tailored for the individual and adapted to specific needs or limitations.
  • Instruct group fitness classes including aerobic and team trainings.
  • Plans and provides fitness orientations as one component of a total fitness program.
  • Provides body composition profiles as requested as part of the overall fitness program.
  • Observes and confers with members and users in the fitness area.
  • Markets the total fitness program and actively recruits for new members and users.
  • Meets regularly with the Recreation Supervisor so both can keep current on utilization patterns and fees generated by the total fitness program.
  • Performs other program-related responsibilities as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in a related field.
  • Certification in Health and Wellness programming and at least two years experience planning, presenting, and evaluating personal training services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Accredited National Personal Training Certification: American Council on Exercise (ACE); National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM); International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA); American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • OR such alternatives to the above qualifications as the City may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Have strength, stamina, and agility to perform demonstrations and assisting others with proper use of the fitness equipment.
