Salary Range: $30 – $45/hr DOQ
Reports to: Fitness Coordinator

Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Fitness Coordinator, the Personal Trainer is responsible for designing and implementing customized personal and group training programs tailored to meet individual client goals. This includes conducting fitness assessments, providing safe and effective instruction on the use of fitness equipment, and delivering engaging onboarding experiences for new members.
The Personal Trainer plays a vital role in promoting a positive, inclusive, and results-oriented environment, while supporting the Joliet Park District’s mission to enhance community health and wellness.
Essential Duties

- Design and implement training programs for personal training clients on an individual and/or group training basis
- Provide the onboarding experience for Inwood Athletic Club members
- Promote and attend fitness events hosted by the Joliet Park District
- Represent the Joliet Park District as an ambassador of health and wellness in the community
- Promote the Inwood Athletic Club, personal training services, nutrition counseling services, group fitness program, specialty fitness programs, and fitness events
- Instruct group exercise classes as desired
Hours
Position is a part time position with hours scheduled by the Fitness Coordinator. Personal Trainers work “floor hours” providing onboarding for new members. Individual and Group Personal training sessions are scheduled by communicating directly with clients.

Work environment
Employee’s general work area indoors is a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from employees, participants, or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
In addition to the above, fitness instructors are required to be able to perform and/or demonstrate the physical movements included in the class format being taught. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education And Experience
- Must hold current nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (ACE, NASM, etc) and any necessary specific format certification if utilizing specialized equipment with clients and/or teaching speacialized group exercise (Zumba, Aqua, Spin, etc.) and/or college degree in Exercise Science or fitness related field.
- Certifications in multiple formats preferred
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Current CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
