Job summary

The Bay Club Company is seeking a Professional Fitness Trainer to evaluate client status and deliver safe, client-based exercise routines aligned with fitness goals. You will meet monthly private training sales targets while delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities include consultations, program development, record-keeping, and maintaining a clean, safe facility. Relevant certifications and CPR/AED are required, with promotional and marketing duties contributing to growth.

Qualifications

  • Certification from ACSM, NSCA, ACE or NASM required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • 1–2 years of health club experience preferred.
  • Experience in marketing and promotions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet minimum private training sales of 40 sessions per month with positive client retention.
  • Provide new member fitness consultations and evaluations.
  • Develop individualized exercise programs based on client abilities, health, and goals.
  • Be on time for all scheduled appointments.
  • Maintain accurate records on client exercise programs and progress.
  • Maintain training session tracking and fee payments.
  • Enforce club policies and promote safety goals.
  • Assist in development, implementation and marketing of private and group PFT programs.
  • Maintain the fitness center's cleanliness and equipment.
  • Record work hours and client sessions in tracking systems.
  • Participate in meetings and developmental programs; maintain CPR/AED certification.

Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager of Fitness, the Professional Fitness Trainer provides evaluation of client status and delivers safe and professional exercise routines that are client based to help client achieve fitness goals. Responsible for achieving personal revenue goals each month while providing the best customer service and hospitality to all members and guests.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Must meet minimum private training sales of 40 sessions per month and maintain positive client retention
  • Provide new member fitness consultations and evaluations
  • Develop individual exercise programs based upon client’s abilities, health, and goals
  • Be on time for all scheduled appointments
  • Maintain accurate, current records on all client exercise programs and progress
  • Keep track of each client’s training sessions and fee payments
  • Enforce all fitness center and club policies
  • Assist in the development, implementation and marketing of innovative private and group PFT programs
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the fitness center
  • Accurately record each day work, the actual time worked and client sessions in the appropriate tracking system
  • Active participation in meetings and training programs. Attend club sponsored developmental or educational seminars and programs
  • Maintain valid trainer and CPR/AED certification
  • Promote the company’s safety goals and actively work towards ensuring a safe working environment
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Actively further corporate objectives and continuously support improvement and positive change
  • Make professional development a consistent priority

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • ACSM-HFS, NSCA-CSCS, ACE-PT, NASM or acceptable national certification is required.
  • Bachelors of Exercise Science degree or related studies preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification required (Red Cross or American Heart Association)
  • 1-2 years of experience in a health club environment preferred.
  • Experience in marketing and promotions preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and sales techniques.
  • Problem Anticipation/ Deductive Reasoning — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Written Comprehension and Expression — Ability to read, understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Oral Comprehension and Expression —Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
  • Computer — Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies. Ability to develop tracking and report forms in Word and Excel as needed.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
