  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • At least one year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs members and provides fitness assessments and individualized programs.
  • Maintains relationships with members and supports wellness goals.
  • Assists members living with disabilities.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings; communicates with supervisor.
  • Maintains equipment and notifies director of issues.
  • Follows YMCA safety policies and responds to emergencies.

Position Summary

Instructs members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Assists with development and implementation of member engagement.

Essential Functions
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Provides fitness assessments and individualized fitness programs for program participants and tracks progression and results.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Assists members living with disabilities.
  • Is a team player and attends staff meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Maintains open communications with supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and informing Director of any breakage or items needing replacement
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to demonstrate various cardio and strength equipment.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting a minimum 45lbs.
YMCA Safety Requirements

CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.

Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.

Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.

Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.

Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.

Compliance – Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
