Job Summary

The Fitness Coach represents 24 Hour Fitness to members and clients by delivering a positive fitness experience and quality personal and small group training sessions leading to member retention and client acquisition. The Fitness Coach leverages experience and specialized education to deliver premium programming and consultation for clients in person.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Design and deliver comprehensive fitness programs based on clients' goals that include appropriate exercise selections, varied fitness offerings, general nutrition guidelines, and teaching a fitness lifestyle.
  2. Inform clients of fitness tools available to assist them in achieving their goals.
  3. Set expectations and hold clients accountable through goal setting, follow-up discussions, and progress tracking.
  4. Demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques.
  5. Arrive on time, prepared, and enthusiastic for each session.
  6. Meet productivity expectations by servicing clients and group sessions.
  7. Increase member group training sessions through strong teaching skills and motivation.

Service Members and Administration

  1. Assist in member service activities such as seminars, training days, and fitness assessments.
  2. Build a strong fitness business through client acquisition and retention.
  3. Onboard new members and clients with professional recommendations.
  4. Coach proper use of equipment and exercise techniques.
  5. Start and finish sessions as scheduled.
  6. Handle member concerns or escalate as needed.
  7. Maintain a clean, friendly, and well-organized club environment.
  8. Create and update client progress records.
  9. Schedule sessions and appointments in advance using company systems.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of physical fitness principles and exercise techniques.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate fitness equipment.
  • Ability to perform various exercise routines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CPR and AED certifications through in-person training.
  • Degree or certification from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Specialized fitness credentials preferred.

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Physical activities include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, jumping, and prolonged standing and walking.

Working Environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally loud noise levels.
  • Extended workdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Benefits & Compensation

Benefits include health coverage, group life and accident insurance, vacation, and a free membership. Compensation ranges from $15.50 per hour, with benefits varying based on hours worked and location.
