Job summary

Portland Center Assisted Living is hiring Personal Support Specialists (PSS) to deliver compassionate, resident-centered care in a Maine-based assisted living setting. The role covers daily living activities, mobility support, meals, laundry and housekeeping within a clinical team, focusing on safety and meaningful resident relationships.

Hourly rate ranges $18.00–$21.50 with a $2,000 hiring bonus. Full-time, part-time and per diem shifts are available, along with tuition reimbursement,

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Personal Support Specialist Certification OR we will train you.
• Growth path: Training to become Certified Residential Medication Aide.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs/IADLs) with compassion.
• Provide personal care including showering, dressing, toileting and mobility.
• Assist with meals, laundry, housekeeping and other tasks as assigned.
• Deliver resident-centered care to create a positive environment.
• Work as part of a clinical team in an assisted living setting.

Personal Support Specialists (PSS) providehands-on assistance with daily living for older adults with functionallimitations and people with disabilities. PSSs provide services related to amember’s physical requirements for assistance with Activities of Daily Living(ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). A PSS providesthese services according to an authorized plan of care, which can be differentdepending on where and who they are working with.

The PSS (Personal Support Specialist) is responsible forproviding excellent, resident-centered, personal care. This care includesassistance with showering/bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility. Inaddition, the PSS will help with meal service, laundry, housekeeping and othertasks as assigned. The successful candidate is a compassionate, patientcaregiver with high energy and a strong desire to make a positive difference inthe lives of our residents.

As a PSS, you will help create a caring environment as part of aclinical team, focusing on providing personal support to your Residentsin an Assisted Living environment. Getting to know your Residents is oneof the most rewarding parts of this job!

PSS Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Personal Support Specialist Certification OR not yet a PSS, we will train you!
• Grow your career: We providing training to become a Certified Residential Medication Aide – which allows you to receive an immediate pay increase!
• Experience with or desire to spend your work day caring for people, especially those who are older and/or chronically ill.
• Focus on a high-level of customer service.
• Ability to work with independence, flexibility, good judgment, verbal communication, creating a safe environment, positive customer relationships.
