Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Specialist to empower individuals with diverse needs to live independently and with dignity. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance that enhances quality of life, promotes safety, and fosters a supportive environment. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure each person receives the highest standard of care, whether in a home setting, assisted living facility, or community environment. Duties
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, documenting findings accurately while respecting patient privacy and HIPAA regulations
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation to promote health and well-being
  • Provide support while engaging clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
  • Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings, ensuring safe and timely travel while respecting residents’ rights and preferences
Requirements
  • Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or seniors in settings such as group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care including Alzheimer’s and memory care practices, hospice care principles, and resident’s rights regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting, patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other methods, manual handling skills, and patient transfer techniques
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, healthcare teams, and other caregivers
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends or holidays as needed in a fast-paced caregiving environment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for assisting clients with personal transportation needs

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
