Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal for our Houston, TX office. You will work primarily under assigned attorneys and paralegals to efficiently meet firm and client needs.

This role involves handling multiple cases in state and federal courts, and supporting discovery, motions, hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of plaintiff PI litigation experience, including actual courtroom trial exposure, a BA or ABA-approved paralegal

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience, including trial.
• Bachelor’s degree or ABA-approved paralegal certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work under Attorneys and Paralegals to meet client needs.
• Handle multiple cases in state and federal court, incl. other states.
• Assist in discovery, motions, hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations.
• Prepare legal documents: petitions, answers, discovery, motions, waivers, briefs.
• Compile deposition and trial notebooks; manage client interviews and pleadings.
• Proofread and format materials accurately.
• Support other paralegals within teams to meet firm goals.
• Organize workload to enable efficient team effort.
• Adhere to firm policies including attendance, dress code, confidentiality.

Job Description

• In this role you will work primarily under the direction of an assigned group of Attorneys and/or Paralegals to most effectively and efficiently meet Firm/client needs.
• Handle multiple voluminous cases in state and federal court, as well as cases in other states.
• Assist in all aspects of the litigation process, including providing support for attorneys in the discovery process, motion practice, as well as hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations.
• Prepare legal documents including petitions, answers, discovery, motions, pre-trial motions, legal memorandum, waivers, memos, case briefs, request medical records, Rule 11 agreements, settlements, and client correspondence.
• Compile deposition and trial notebooks, client interviews, pleadings, motions, pre-trial motions, depositions, investigation, mediation settlements, and familiarity with all discovery phases, including answers and responses to interrogatories, production, disclosures, and requests for admissions.
• Responsible for proofreading and correctly formatting all materials.
• Provide assistance to other Paralegals within assigned teams whenever necessary to meet firm and client needs.
• Organize and prioritize workload as to most efficiently enable and facilitate team effort to accomplish Firm and client goals.
• Exhibit professionalism by recognizing and adhering to all Firm policies, including attendance guidelines, dress code, security measures, and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience to include actual courtroom trial experience.
• Personal injury experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA-approved program, preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
