Personal Injury Associate Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and client-focused Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to join our firm. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of personal injury matters from intake through resolution, pursue favorable outcomes through negotiation and trial, and provide compassionate guidance to clients during difficult times. This role requires strong litigation skills, excellent legal writing and advocacy, and a commitment to ethical practice and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of personal injury cases including client intake, case evaluation, and development of legal strategy
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda to support motions and trial strategies
- Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate with experts
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel to achieve optimal client outcomes
- Manage case calendar, deadlines, and trial preparation including exhibit and witness lists
- Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and jury trials as needed
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients regarding case progress, options, and expectations
- Collaborate with paralegals, investigators, and other staff to gather evidence and prepare cases
- Ensure compliance with ethical rules, court procedures, and firm policies while maintaining accurate billing and file management records
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the state bar
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, with substantive experience in personal injury matters preferred
- Proven courtroom experience, including taking depositions and trying cases to verdict
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of obtaining favorable settlements
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Familiarity with insurance practices, tort law, and relevant statutes and regulations
- Proficiency with case management software, e-filing systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to travel to court, deposition locations, and client meetings as necessary
