Personal Care Attendants work in the personal care facility of our community. In this position, they aid with activities of daily living for the residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents to dining facilities and other in-house activities and appointments.
  • Assist with arranging residents’ appointments and transportation.
  • Report all accidents and incidents on the shift that they occur.
  • Report pertinent information, especially any changes in residents’ condition or concerns raised by the resident/family, to the Resident Service Coordinator or Director as requested, or according to an established schedule. Compile information as necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate personnel.
  • Follow work assignments and work schedules.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department and shift.
  • Assist residents with daily personal needs including bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, bed-making, eating, and ambulating; strip and remake beds as assigned; administer first aid, lotions and creams as may be required.
  • Perform regularly scheduled rounds and monitor residents’ conditions.
  • Record and chart vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and weights as required or scheduled.
  • Respond to residents’ call bells promptly.
  • Report unusual incidents or changes in resident behavior to the Resident Service Coordinator or Director.
  • Monitor self-medicated residents as per current medication order and resident service plan.
  • Perform care and services in a manner which is respectful of residents’ rights and dignity.
Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or active registry status on the Pennsylvania nurse aide registry required.

Training We Provide:

  • Must successfully complete the Direct Care Staff Person Training Course and Competency Test offered through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
  • Must successfully complete an approved medication administration course as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
