Job summary

Miami Jewish Health is seeking a Personal Care Attendant to support participants in Florida PACE Centers. You will provide basic nursing assistance and help with daily living activities alongside the Nursing and Therapeutic Recreation staff.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or CNA program completion, CNA certification in good standing, and 3 months CNA experience with at least 1 year in frail/elderly care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or CNA program completion.
• Florida CNA certification in good standing.
• 3 months CNA clinical experience preferred; 1 year experience with frail/elderly.
• BLS/CPR certification; valid Florida driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing assistance (toileting, feeding, bathing, mobility) as per policies.
• Document treatments, observations and nursing care on appropriate forms.
• Assist with monthly outings and participate in cross-training rotations as needed.
• Ensure residents' rights are adhered to and maintain safety and professionalism.

Title: Personal Care Attendant (Florida PACE Centers)

Job Summary

Performs participant care activities and other tasks as assigned to assist the Nursing and Therapeutic Recreation staff.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides basic nursing assistance to participants as established in department’s policies and procedures.( i.e.: toileting, feeding, transportation and bathing when needed)


• Documents treatments/procedures, observations, nursing care and participant care activities on appropriate forms per established department guidelines, when needed.


• Takes assigned participants monthly weight and reports results to PACE dietician.


• Ensures that resident’s/participant’s rights are adhered to.


• Participates in departmental activities, multidisciplinary team meetings, department meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines as needed.


• Completes monthly training in a timely manner.


• Assists with monthly outings when assigned.


• Participates in a structured rotation program that provides cross training for all PCA duties in the PACE program.

Education

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred


• Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program

Experience

• 3 months clinical experience as a CNA preferred


• Minimum one-year experience working with a frail/elderly population

Licenses/Certifications

• Certified by the State of Florida as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing


• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification


• Valid Florida Driver’s License & Proof of Insurance preferred


• Current CPR Certification

Abilities Required

• Good communication skills


• Ability to speak read and write English and Spanish, knowledge of Creole a plus


• Ability to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job


• Demonstrates a caring attitude toward PACE participants, participants, family members, employees, and other facility guests


• Ability to stand or walk 90% of the day


• Ability to bend and stoop frequently


• Ability to do frequent lifting and turning of patients/residents per department’s policies and procedures
