Job summary

Role Description:

Providing direct support to clients in their homes. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility, as well as helping with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and errands as needed. The role involves monitoring clients’ well-being, following care plans, and promptly reporting any changes in condition to supervisors or appropriate healthcare professionals. The Personal Care Attendant also offers companionship, supports social engagement, and helps clients follow routines that promote safety, comfort, and independence. Documentation of services provided and adherence to agency policies, infection control measures, and confidentiality standards are essential parts of this position.

Qualifications

• Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, toileting, and safe transfers.
• Basic skills in meal preparation, household tasks, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for clients.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust, provide emotional support, and collaborate with families and care teams.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to follow care plans, document services accurately, and comply with safety and infection control practices.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist clients safely, using proper body mechanics and equipment as instructed.
• Prior experience in home care, caregiving, or a related field is preferred but not always required; willingness to learn and accept training is essential.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; relevant caregiver or home health aide certification is a plus.
• Ability to pass required background checks, meet any state or agency regulatory requirements, and maintain professional conduct at all times.
