Job summary

Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Attendant to provide one-on-one in-home support to clients in central Vermont. You will help with daily living activities, offer companionship, and support independence and comfort in familiar surroundings.

You will follow individualized care plans, maintain safety and quality of care, communicate updates to your supervisor, and collaborate with a compassionate team to enrich clients' lives and uphold dignity.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics and infection control.
  • Ability to provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Experience assisting with bathing, dressing, transfers, and activities of daily living.
  • Familiarity with OSHA/HIPAA regulations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care needs (bathing, dressing, ADLs).
  • Provide light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and cooking.
  • Run errands and support daily routines.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support.
  • Monitor client well-being and report changes to supervisor.
  • Follow each client’s Plan of Care to ensure safe, high-quality care.

As a Personal Care Attendant, you’ll provide compassionate, one‑on‑one support to clients in the comfort of their own homes. Assist with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living

Support clients with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and cooking

Run errands and provide assistance with daily routines

Follow each client’s individualized Plan of Care to ensure safe, high‑quality care

What You’ll Bring

Successful candidates will have:

Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe use of mechanical and adaptive equipment, and infection control practices, including universal precautions

The ability to provide emotional support and foster positive social interactions with clients and their families

Experience assisting with bathing, dressing, ambulation, transfers, self‑administered medications, and other personal care needs outlined in a Plan of Care

Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations

Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and occasional schedule adjustments in a fast‑paced environment

Understanding of and commitment to emergency reporting procedures

Requirements:

  • High school education or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience working with the elderly and/or adults with disabilities preferred.
