Job summary

The Landings of Oak Island is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for night shift to support residents with daily living activities and to promote independence in a safe, compassionate setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, monitoring health, providing hydration and meal support, and encouraging social engagement while following safety protocols and infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or preferred; PCA/CNA training program completion is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in personal care, senior living, or healthcare is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to residents, assisting with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
  • Assist with meals, feeding, hydration, and personal hygiene to promote comfort and independence
  • Monitor residents' health, report changes to the nursing team, and remind about medications as directed
  • Foster companionship and engage residents in social activities to enhance well-being and participation
  • Ensure safe living areas, follow infection control protocols, and respond to emergencies per procedures

Position Summary:
NIGHT SHIFT POSITION

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing direct care and support to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment. This role requires empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to promoting residents' dignity and independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Personal Care Support:

    • Assist residents with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.

    • Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and hydration as needed.

    • Help residents maintain personal hygiene and comfort.

  • Health Monitoring:

    • Observe and report changes in residents' health, behavior, and physical condition to the nursing team.

    • Assist with medication reminders and monitor for any adverse reactions.

  • Resident Engagement:

    • Foster positive relationships with residents through companionship and meaningful interactions.

    • Encourage participation in community activities and social events to promote engagement and well-being.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensure residents' living areas are clean, organized, and safe.

    • Follow infection control protocols and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.

    • Respond promptly to emergencies, following established procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.

    • Completion of a state-approved PCA, CNA, or caregiver training program preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in personal care, senior living, or healthcare preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Compassionate, patient, and attentive to residents' needs.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Basic knowledge of caregiving techniques and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

  • Ability to assist residents with mobility and physical support as needed.

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
