We are hiring for PCA and HHA positions!

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $18.10 - $20.00 per hour

Statement of Responsibility

The Personal Care Aide provides assistance with nutritional and environmental support under professional supervision, acting as an extension of self-directed patients.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of an approved training program in home health services, or
  • An approved personal care aide training program, or
  • PCA Alternative Competency Demonstration (ACD) approved by the Department of Health, or
  • An equivalent exam approved by the Department.

Specific Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions, record messages, and keep simple records.
  • Sympathetic attitude towards patients with home medical problems.
  • Access to transportation.
  • Effective communication skills, including use of the telephone.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to move throughout the day, including sitting, standing, bending, and handling objects and patients.
  • Ability to relate to various personality styles, including ill, disabled, and elderly individuals.
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing, and communication.
  • Maturity and emotional stability.
  • Experience in personal care or homemaking.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, purchase, prepare, and serve basic diets.
  • Assist with oral care, grooming, bathing, eating, and dressing.
  • Maintain a safe environment and follow medical recommendations.
  • Report changes in patient conditions to the supervising nurse.
  • Perform household tasks essential for the patient's health, such as light housekeeping, laundry, and shopping.
  • Record care activities and participate in case conferences.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion of duties and patient visits.
  • Follow infection control protocols; note that aides are not permitted to administer medications under any circumstances.
Accountability

Reports to Registered Nurse, Director of Clinical Services, and Scheduler/Coordinator.
