Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to provide mobility support and assist the department head throughout the workday, including setting up equipment and helping with meals and hydration.

You will escort the department head across campus, handle related travel support, and perform other duties with integrity. The role requires a High School Diploma, 1–3 years of experience, and dependable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing personal care or mobility assistance (professionally or as a caregiver).
  • Physically able to assist and provide physical support safely.
  • Reliable and punctual, with dependable transportation.
  • Basic understanding of body mechanics and safe lifting/transfer techniques.
  • Training from an occupational or physical therapist preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Position Overview

The Personal Care Assistant shall assist with mobility during the workday for a department head. The tasks include, but are not limited to, providing hands‑on mobility support, setting up and adjusting mobility equipment for safe use, retrieving and carrying items, assisting with personal needs during the workday, and escorting the department head to locations across campus. The Personal Care Assistant may also carry materials to meetings and provide physical support during work‑related travel. Performs related personal assistance duties as assigned.
