Job summary

Always Compassionate Home Care in Patchogue, NY is seeking a certified Home Health Aide to support pediatric clients and accompany students in school settings. Pediatrics experience preferred; must hold a Home Health Aide certificate and maintain ongoing in-service education to keep the credential.

You will follow the care plan, assist with personal care, mobility, medication reminders, documentation, and report changes to the nursing supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Must have a certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements with evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate.
• Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family and agency personnel.
• Have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a healthy, safe environment; provide nutritional and environmental support.
• Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking and feeding the client.
• Position the client when instructed to do so.
• Assist with certain treatments and therapy as ordered by the physician and approved by the nursing supervisor.
• Remind the client to take medications.
• Assist with payment of bills only when authorized and documented.
• Run errands when authorized; document on the Aide Charting Sheet daily.
• Report important information or changes in the client's condition to the agency/nursing supervisor.
• Use medical supplies and equipment appropriately.
• Provide emotional support and develop a trusting relationship with the client.
• Encourage client independence.
