Job summary

Always Compassionate Home Care in New York is seeking certified Home Health Aides to accompany students in school, with pediatrics experience preferred. This role requires an HH Aide certificate and compassionate, dependable individuals who can work well with clients and families.

You will follow a care plan, assist with daily living activities, monitor client well‑being, and document care. Private pay cases available; competitive hourly rate starts at $19.65.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen or older.
• Certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements with evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate.
• Maturity for establishing and maintaining good work relationships with client, family and agency personnel.
• Genuine interest in caring for the sick and disabled.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance per Care Plan completed by Nursing Supervisor.
• Maintain a healthy, safe environment with nutritional and environmental support.
• Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking and feeding.
• Position the client when instructed to do so.
• Assist with treatments and therapy as ordered by the physician and approved by the nursing supervisor.
• Remind the client to take medications.
• Assist with payment of bills only when authorized and documented.
• Run errands when authorized to do so and document on the Aide Charting Sheet daily.
• Report changes in client condition to the agency and/or nursing supervisor.
• Use medical supplies and equipment when appropriate.
• Provide emotional support and encourage client independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

By following the Care Plan that has been completed by the Nursing Supervisor, the Home Health Aide provides assistance with the following:

• Maintain a healthy, safe environment. Providing nutritional and environmental support.
• Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking and feeding the client.
• Position the client when instructed to do so.
• Assist with certain treatments and therapy as ordered by the physician and approved by the nursing supervisor.
• Remind the client to take medications.
• Assist with payment of bills ONLY when authorized to do so and it is documented on the assignment sheet.
• Run errands when authorized to do so. Documentation on the Aide Charting Sheet daily.
• Report any important information or changes in the client's condition to the agency and/or the nursing supervisor when necessary.
• Use of medical supplies and equipment when appropriate.
• Emotional support and the development of a trusting relationship between the aide and the client.
• Encouragement of client independence.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Must have a certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements with evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate.
• Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family and agency personnel.
• Have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled.

A HOME HEALTH AIDE MUST:

Enjoy working with others.

• Get along well with others.
• Be dependable and trustworthy.
• Maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
• Maintain in-service requirements as specified in State and agency regulations.
• Be a good listener, exhibit empathy for the sick, disabled and elderly, and be sensitive to the feelings of others.
• Be neatly dressed and have good personal hygiene habits.
• Maintain good health habits with regular physical and dental exams.
• Wear an identification badge while working.

FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES:

• Able to lift, turn and transfer clients
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stoop and bend.
• Visual/ hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written and verbal communication.
• Able to verbalize so that the average person can understand.
• Provide direct care according to the established client plan of care.
• Carry out a wide variety of tasks under the direction of the nursing supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Regular exposure to client elements and occasional stress.
