Concordia Private Care has offered private duty services to our clients in the comfort of their own home since 1997. We can help our clients in a variety of ways including assistance with ADLs (such as personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transferring), companionship, medication reminders, and much more. Concordia Private Care also utilizes technologies (such as the TabSafe Medication Dispensing Unit and the Medical Alert System) to ensure the highest quality of care and services are provided to all of those in need. Concordia Private Care is seeking part-time Personal Care Aides for patients at our Allison Park campus.

Schedule: Saturday and Sunday daylight hours.

POSITION SUMMARY

The personal care aide is a paraprofessional staff member trained to provide personal care, activities of daily living, exercise programs, and related services in the home for the sick and disabled, when no family member can assume this responsibility. This employee functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successfully completes Agency Competency Evaluation
• One year of supervised employment as a personal care aide or nursing assistant is preferred
• Scores at or above the 75% score on the nursing assistant evaluation/pre-employment test
• Ability to understand and carry out directions and instructions and keep appropriate records
• Hold current CPR and First Aid card (HSFA)
• Reliable, independent means of transportation to make home visits
• Car must be covered by established amount of insurance as described in personnel policies
• Driver must have valid driver’s license

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Bathing
• Dressing
• Grooming
• Nail Care
• Assistance with ambulation
• Changing position in bed
• Assistance with transfers
• Oral hygiene
• Changing bed linens of an incontinent beneficiary
• Shaving
• Skin care with lotions and/or powder
• Feeding

Housekeeping including but not limited to:

• Dusting
• Light meal preparation
• Taking out the trash
• Assistance with medications that are ordinarily self-administered and do not require the skills of a licensed nurse to be provided safely and effectively
