We are seeking a customer-focused individual to join our team. The Member Relationship Officer will ensure members’ needs are met by conducting thorough financial assessments and recommending suitable products and services to fulfill both immediate and future financial goals. Responsibilities include generating leads, building new and maintaining existing member relationships, and providing an excellent member experience.

What does GTE look for in a Member Relationship Officer?

Business Development/Sales:

  • Effective negotiation, sales, and relationship-building skills are essential.
  • Proven success in prospecting, pipeline development, and closing sales opportunities.
  • Identify, recommend, and sell appropriate GTE Financial products and services to foster fully engaged financial relationships.
  • Originate new members through various sources to support continued growth.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to develop retention strategies for new and existing members.
  • Generate referrals for credit union services:
    • Investment
    • Insurance
    • Business Services
    • Mortgages

Experience:

  • Strong negotiation, sales, and relationship-building skills are required.
  • Experience in prospecting, pipeline management, and advancing sales opportunities.
  • Professional demeanor to foster a proactive team environment.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales floor activities, greet members, direct them appropriately, and ensure their needs are met.
  • Gather information, analyze facts, and educate members on suitable products/services for a one-point resolution.
  • Exercise sound judgment in loan application decisions by reviewing and underwriting thoroughly.
  • Adhere to audit and compliance procedures while maintaining high service standards.
  • Identify potential risks for credit union losses through transaction observations.
  • Collaborate with Community Development Officers to strengthen community and partner relationships.
  • Handle member financial transactions, including originating, processing, and closing consumer loans.
  • For mortgages: identify appropriate products, gather information, coordinate with processors and underwriters, and ensure a positive member experience.
  • Follow credit union policies, procedures, and security standards for compliance.
  • Complete regulatory compliance and sales/service training.
  • Commit to ongoing education for personal growth and improved service.
  • Participate in meetings, calls, and community events as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with laws such as the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, AML regulations, and qualify for NMLS registration under the Safe Act.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the financial industry or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.

Position Details:

  • Location: Community Financial Center
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Full-time hours required, with additional hours as needed to meet objectives.
