GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform successfully within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. This role involves acquiring new households and/or deepening existing customer relationships through lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

This role is responsible for risk management by following policies, procedures, and ethical standards, ensuring a positive customer experience, and operating within the Bank's risk appetite while achieving results through risk assessment and management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Utilize marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities such as community events and member presentations.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners to refer customers for comprehensive financial solutions.
  6. Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide Customer Service Representatives in sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and a helpful demeanor.
  9. Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  11. Follow policies when opening/servicing retail products and participate in loan and bankcard processes.
  12. Assist with opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  13. Stay updated on procedures to prevent fraud and manage risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • College degree, work experience, or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in the financial industry is preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS is required at employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility, including outside travel for classroom sessions.
