Job Summary

Serves as the front-line point of contact for retail branch customers, executing activities required to meet sales and service needs of customers and branch goals. Operates as a multi-functional team member with the ability to process transactions, provide excellent service, and consult in an advisory role to maximize sales potential. Processes transactions accurately and efficiently while introducing products, services, and digital options that meet customer needs and encourage relationship expansion. Identifies customer needs and cross-selling/up-selling opportunities, contributing to the branch's financial growth. Acts as the first line of defense in preventing fraud and mitigating risk. Demonstrates a passion for customer satisfaction by living the Customer Covenant daily. Typically, spends about 60% of time on Teller functions and 40% on Relationship Banker functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet customers proactively and pleasantly, establishing rapport and providing outstanding service.
  • Assess customer needs, educate on digital strategies, and direct them to appropriate service areas.
  • Execute customer transactions with high accuracy and efficiency, assisting with inquiries and issue resolution. Handle routine inquiries about accounts, cash checks, process withdrawals, and prepare official checks and money orders.
  • Count, check, and package coins and currency. Balance cash drawer daily, report discrepancies, and accept deposits and withdrawals, verifying cash and endorsements.
  • Listen carefully to understand customer priorities, promote bank products, digital options, and services accordingly.
  • Open and service accounts, interview loan applicants, and process/close loans following policies and procedures.
  • Referring customers for cross-selling opportunities, promoting products, and performing outreach during campaigns. Use sales management systems to track referrals.
  • Back-up roles may include coaching junior tellers, administering IBS Teller Insight, and vault responsibilities.
  • Participate in team meetings, sales activities, and support bank initiatives. Promote digital tools and strategies.
  • Adhere to operational standards, policies, and regulations to mitigate risk. Recognize and report fraud or violations. Complete required training timely.
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and conduct. Keep work area organized.
  • Be aware of risks within your role, observe policies and laws, and report violations promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience
  • 1+ years in banking, including cash handling, sales, and customer service; or 6 months of successful sales experience with defined goals. Relevant college programs may substitute some experience.
Certifications or Licenses
  • Successful registration and issuance of a unique ID from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) required, including fingerprint check.
