POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Personal Banker at Provident Bank, your primary role is to establish relationships with customers and prospective customers to understand, identify and satisfy their financial needs and to provide a positive customer experience while conducting transactions during every branch interaction.

The Personal Banker position is a dynamic role that involves both transaction processing and sales/service duties. Responsibilities may vary daily based on branch needs and include processing financial transactions, opening accounts, cross-selling, tele-consulting, developing relationships through a book of business, servicing accounts, check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments, greeting customers, and conducting needs-based assessments. The Personal Banker may also research and resolve account issues and promote organizational products and services by referring customers to other departments. This role is responsible for meeting sales expectations, managing and balancing cash drawers, and supporting branch operations, including assisting the Assistant Branch Manager.

This position may be eligible for Life and Health Licensing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet sales and cross-selling goals by understanding and promoting bank products and services
  • Promote bank products and refer or resolve customer inquiries
  • Refer customers for commercial products or services to appropriate managers or partners
  • Exceed customer expectations through active engagement and relationship building
  • Develop and manage a book of business to grow relationships and sales

Service

  • Identify customer opportunities through lobby management
  • Assist customers with digital banking technologies and refer to other lines of business
  • Maintain cost efficiency and ensure quality customer service
  • Provide sales and service support, ensuring positive customer experiences

Operations

  • Ensure operational and financial safety in accordance with policies and regulations
  • Use lobby management to control risk
  • Verify customer identity and adhere to compliance procedures
  • Assist with branch operations and perform transactions
  • Complete required reports for transactions
  • Support training of other staff and handle high call volumes
  • Manage safe deposit access and handle inquiries by phone

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months of sales and service experience in a retail environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and demonstrate professionalism
  • Proficient in math, analysis, and computer skills including MS Office
  • Must register as a mortgage loan originator with NMLS if applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior retail banking experience
  • Life and Health Licenses for investment support

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is mainly in a retail banking branch, with potential for overtime and travel. Must be flexible and able to adapt to various locations. Physical requirements include lifting coins, prolonged sitting/standing, and occasional bending.
