GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker II after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in Operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform successfully within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Retail Personal Banker II role is a sales position focused on sales development and relationship building through promoting deposits, loans, fee-based services, and customer retention. Responsible for selling a full range of banking products and services to meet the needs of existing and prospective customers, while providing specialized care and service. Utilize and promote the consultative sales and service process, using prescribed tools and collaborating with staff for referrals.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures. Always do the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. Achieve results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks within the Bank's risk appetite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build a thorough customer profile and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engage in outside sales activities such as onsite presentations, business calls, and community events.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment), referring customers as appropriate for holistic solutions.
  6. Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.
  7. Guide CSRs regarding sales and referrals.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor.
  9. Respond confidently to customer questions and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness.
  11. Follow the Bank's Code of Conduct and Ethics, maintaining ethical behavior.
  12. Adhere to policies and procedures when opening/servicing retail products.
  13. Participate in the loan and bankcard processes, owning sourced loans from application to closing.
  14. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  15. Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities to acquire new or cross-sell to existing customers.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS is required at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for training sessions.
