GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform successfully within the Retail Personal Banker role. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. This role involves acquiring new households and deepening existing customer relationships through activities such as lobby leadership or aisle time and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

This role is responsible and accountable for risk management by following policies and procedures, and ensuring positive customer experiences. It involves identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks within the Bank's risk appetite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail products/services and recommend solutions using our value proposition.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities such as community events and business calls.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners and refer customers for holistic financial solutions.
  6. Meet/exceed customer experience and sales goals, and contribute to revenue growth.
  7. Guide Customer Service Representatives on sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
  9. Own customer issues and provide confident responses to questions.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
  11. Follow the Bank’s Code of Conduct and policies, ensuring ethical behavior.
  12. Adhere to policies when opening/servicing Retail products.
  13. Participate in loan and bankcard processes from application to closing.
  14. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  15. Stay updated on procedures to prevent fraud and manage risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree or relevant work experience, or a combination.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration through NMLS is required at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Flexibility to travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
