GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary for a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. This role emphasizes acquiring new households and deepening existing customer relationships through various activities, including lobby leadership or aisle time and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

Responsible and accountable for risk management by openly exchanging ideas, raising concerns, and following policies and procedures. Always prioritize doing the right thing for customers and colleagues to ensure a positive customer experience. Operate within the Bank's risk appetite by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions based on our value proposition.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities such as community financial literacy events and business sales calls.
  5. Establish strong relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment) and refer customers when appropriate.
  6. Meet or exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals, contributing to revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.
  7. Provide guidance to CSRs regarding sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism.
  9. Respond confidently to customer questions and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness in handling business information.
  11. Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies, maintaining ethical standards.
  12. Adhere to policies and procedures when opening and servicing Retail products.
  13. Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard processes, owning sourced loans from application to closing.
  14. Assist with opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  15. Stay updated on Retail procedures to prevent fraud and reduce risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. College degree, relevant work experience, or a combination thereof.
  2. Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  3. Ability to develop comfort with sales activities to acquire new or cross-sell to existing customers.
  4. Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  5. Professional appearance and strong communication skills.
  6. Ability to understand Retail policies and exercise good judgment in decision-making.
  7. Must obtain S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS at employment start.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
