GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary for the role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. The role involves acquiring new households and deepening existing customer relationships through activities like lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as a member of the platform staff.

This role is responsible for risk management by adhering to policies and procedures, ensuring a positive customer experience, and operating within the Bank's risk appetite by identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Use consultative sales and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Utilize marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners for holistic financial solutions.
  6. Meet/exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide Customer Service Representatives in sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and friendliness.
  9. Respond confidently to customer questions and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of business information.
  11. Follow the Bank's Code of Conduct and policies, acting ethically at all times.
  12. Open/serve Retail products per policies and procedures.
  13. Participate in loan and bankcard processes from application to closing.
  14. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart.
  15. Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • College degree, work experience, or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities for acquiring or cross-selling customers.
  • Understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS required at employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended computer screen viewing.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
