GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary for a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. This role involves acquiring new households and deepening existing relationships through lobby leadership (Financial Centers), aisle time (Bank Marts), and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

The role requires responsible risk management by adhering to policies and ensuring a positive customer experience. It involves identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend suitable solutions.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and schedule financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities like community events and business calls.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment) and refer customers appropriately.
  6. Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) in sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and friendliness.
  9. Own customer issues and answer questions confidently.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and act ethically at all times.
  11. Follow policies and procedures for opening and servicing retail products.
  12. Participate in loan and bankcard processes from application to closing.
  13. Assist with opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  14. Stay updated on procedures to prevent fraud and reduce risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • College degree, relevant work experience, or a combination.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities to acquire or cross-sell customers.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Must be registered with S.A.F.E. Act through NMLS at employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment.
  • Prolonged viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Occasional travel for classroom training outside the affiliate.
