GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary for a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet customer or prospect financial needs. This role involves acquiring new households and deepening existing customer relationships through activities like lobby leadership or aisle time and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

This role is responsible for risk management by following policies, raising concerns, and ensuring actions align with the bank's risk appetite, all while maintaining a positive customer experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities such as community events and business calls.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners and refer customers for holistic solutions.
  6. Meet or exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide CSRs regarding sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and friendliness.
  9. Respond confidently to customer questions and resolve issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior.
  11. Follow policies when opening/servicing Retail products and participate in loan processes.
  12. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  13. Stay updated on procedures to prevent fraud and manage risks.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS required at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended computer screen viewing.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
