GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate the skills necessary to successfully perform within the Retail Personal Banker job family.

The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. The role involves acquiring new households, deepening existing customer relationships through activities like lobby leadership or aisle time, and tele-consulting. It also includes processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

This role is responsible for risk management by following policies and procedures, ensuring a positive customer experience, and operating within the Bank's risk appetite while achieving results through risk assessment and management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engage in outside sales activities like community financial literacy events.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment) and refer customers for comprehensive solutions.
  6. Meet/exceed customer experience and sales goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide CSRs in the sales and referral process.
  8. Provide friendly, helpful, and professional customer service.
  9. Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and act ethically following the Bank's Code of Conduct.
  11. Adhere to policies when opening/servicing Retail products.
  12. Participate in the loan and bankcard processes from application to closing.
  13. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  14. Stay updated on procedures to prevent fraud and manage risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. College degree, work experience, or a combination thereof.
  2. Financial industry experience preferred.
  3. Ability to develop comfort with sales activities for new and existing customers.
  4. Understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
  5. Professional appearance and communication skills.
  6. Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment in decision-making.
  7. S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS is required at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
